WISHDOIT Review – Vortex Compressor Automatic Diver

I’ve reviewed a few WISHDOIT watches now, and each time I’ve come away impressed by how much watch you get for the money. So when this one arrived — a smaller, more traditional diver — I was curious to see whether WISHDOIT could carry that same quality into a different style.

Unboxing was, as always, a pleasant experience, right on par with the other WISHDOIT models I’ve reviewed. The presentation box is genuinely top-quality — the kind of thing you’ll want to hold onto long after the watch is on your wrist.

Appearance

This is where the watch makes its first, and strongest, impression. The face carries a subtle radial texture that catches the light as your wrist moves, lending it a premium look that punches well above its price.

The colour combination is the real star. The crisp white band, the soft pink dial and the silver case all work beautifully together — elegant without trying too hard. My daughter, who wore it for the review, took to it immediately. It was that pink face and white band that won her over.

Everyday Use

From the moment she strapped it on, she loved it. The weight is judged nicely: substantial enough to feel well-made, light enough that you forget it’s there. She has quite a slender wrist, which rules out most large watches. This one sits at the border – not too large to be uncomfortable, but large enough to make a statement and catch some attention.

The rubber band deserves a mention of its own. It’s an extremely soft material, easily one of the more comfortable bands I’ve come across, yet strong enough to keep the case securely in place through a full day of activity.

We put it to the test on a long walk through the Royal National Park, just south of Sydney, with the kids in tow. It’s the sort of outing where a watch either earns its keep or becomes an afterthought — and this one held up beautifully. Comfortable the whole way, no fuss, no fiddling.

Functionality

Being an automatic, there’s a nice bit of mechanical character here. You can wind it by hand, but it also winds itself as you walk and move through the day — no battery, no charging, just motion. Flip it over and you can see part of the mechanism at work through a window on the caseback, which adds a genuine dimension of interest to an otherwise clean, simple design.

Out on the trail, legibility was excellent. The large digits and clearly marked band made checking the time effortless, even mid-stride — and it was the watch that told us when it was time to turn around and head back to the car.

Setting it is refreshingly straightforward, too. You simply unscrew the waterproof crown, then pull it out twice to set the time or once to set the date. No manual required.

Conclusion

Once again, WISHDOIT have delivered far more than the price tag suggests. This is a comfortable, easy-to-read, beautifully finished watch that looks a class above its cost — and the pink, white and silver combination gives it a charm all its own.

It handled a full day out in the Royal National Park without complaint, kept my daughter happy, and looked great doing it. If you’re after an affordable automatic with real character, this one comes highly recommended.
